🪄Marketing Ideas That Actually Work💸
Let's stop being polite and get real...Real Problems. Real Support. Real Solutions.
What happens when a room full of business owners, marketers, and service providers stop pretending they have it all figured out—and start sharing what’s actually working?
Every month I run the Virtual Networkers Marketing & Business Experts Mastermind, where we dig into real-world marketing strategies, unexpected wins, and a few ideas that sparked debate (and maybe a little controversy).
From blurred screenshots that trigger curiosity…
To “half-assed” posts that outperform polished content…
To the uncomfortable truth about perfectionism holding businesses back…
This month’s conversation went way beyond surface-level marketing advice.
💡 Inside this session we covered:
Creative marketing ideas you can test immediately
How to turn DIY customers into future high-value clients
The psychology behind curiosity, FOMO, and engagement
Why “good enough” often beats “perfect” in business
Real examples from bookkeeping, direct sales, coaching, and more
Smart ways to repurpose content and meet customers where they are
And yes… we also talked about:
A traveling “Super Title Goat” 🐐 (because normal marketing is overrated)
Why authenticity is outperforming polished content
How to build momentum without overthinking everything
If you’ve ever felt stuck trying to make your marketing perfect… this is your permission slip to just start.
Today, I’m going to share just a few of the great ideas we talked about in our call:
The “DIY Trap” Is Actually a Pipeline
Some members of the group lamented their struggle with new start-ups. They know they need help, they also have no money. They are the perfect future client. But how do you capture that future business?
You need to understand:
“They’re going to try to do it themselves anyway.”
Honestly, what choice do they have? We’ve all been there. Instead of fighting that, smart service providers design for it.
Not by giving everything away for free—but by creating:
starter tools
guided templates
structured DIY paths
paid “get yourself set up” resources
Because DIY customers don’t disappear.
They:
get stuck
get frustrated
realize what they don’t know
…and then look for a little bit of help.
AND THEN…they GROW and need a lot of help.
If you’ve already helped them once—even in a small way—you’re no longer a stranger. You’re the obvious next step.
The mistake isn’t offering low cost help to DIYers.
The mistake is not owning that stage of the journey.
Do Something Slightly Ridiculous
Not stupid. Not random.
Just… unexpected enough to be interesting.
This is where things like:
The traveling Super Title Goat 🐐
Weird props
Creative contents
…actually work.
Because normal marketing is invisible.
Manufacture Curiosity on Purpose
Curiosity isn’t accidental—it’s engineered.
Examples that came up:
Blur part of an announcement
Withhold one key detail
Let people guess before revealing
When people feel like they’re “in on something,” they engage.
🪄Stop white-knuckling your business alone💸
You do not need another networking call.
You need a place where you can say:
“I’m raising my prices and how do I announce it?”
“I don’t know whether to package this or keep billing hourly.”
“I built the offer… and no one bought.”
“I’m getting attention but not conversions.”
“I’m exhausted from creating content and not seeing ROI.”
“I have an opportunity in front of me and I don’t know if I should take it.”
These are the kinds of conversations we’ve had inside past mastermind sessions.
We’ve dissected price increases and how to communicate them without apologizing.
We’ve broken down whether to charge hourly or productize services.
We’ve worked through selling before building.
We’ve talked about client negotiations, scope creep, and how to stop undercutting your own authority.
We’ve analyzed marketing funnels, positioning gaps, and why “engagement” does not equal revenue.
We’ve even unpacked the emotional side — performance, over-delivering, burnout, and the fear of being seen as “too much.”
This is what the Marketing & Business Coaches/Experts pod inside Virtual Networkers is built for.
Not theory.
Application.
The Mastermind Tier brings together women entrepreneurs in focused, industry-specific pods for 10 months of structured, strategic discussion and accountability — with additional collaboration led by Jill Celeste across the wider community.
Next week’s preview is your opportunity to experience it before deciding whether it belongs in your business ecosystem.
